Geez, it’s already the beginning of March 😱. This year is just flying by and I’ve only released one blog. Shame on me! 🙈 But do not fear! I am back and ready to raid all the wonders Joburg and Pretoris have to offer.
So my first victim 😂: Aroma Gourmet Coffee Roastery on Lynnwood Road in Pretoria. I’ve heard about the fantastic coffee on offer and on Saturday, after a grilling work boot camp, I finally found the time.
Walking into the cafe felt a bit uncomfortable. We weren’t sure if we needed to wait to be seated or if we could just find a table. Clearly I haven’t been around civilization in a while 😜. After walking towards the staircase, a friendly waitress approached us and helped us find a table upstairs.
Lee had amped me up for pancakes so I was ready to eat pancakes until I was stuffed. After reading the menu and seeing no pancakes we almost left. Luckily the waitress arrived just in time and mentioned their Belgium Waffles. This sounded way better than plain old pancakes.
We ordered a milk hot chocolate (yummy and sweet), a red cappuccino (sweet and with the perfect amount of cinnamon), the berry waffle and the Nutella waffle.
The Nutella waffle was Ferrero Roche ice-cream, bananas, chocolate sauce, and almond flakes. The perfect sweet heaven! With all the elements the waffles had just the right amount of sweetness and crunch.
The berry waffle was my favorite. It was a bright red waffle (that tasted like an ice-cream cone) and topped with strawberries, blueberries, a berry sauce and strawberry ice-cream. Given the heat, the waffle was refreshing and light. Not to mention delectable.
Aroma has fantastic waffles and coffee. Not to mention divine gelato and ice-cream. And it’s all I’ve been thinking about lately. I even went out of my way to pick up coffee on the way home. And seeing that it’s 15 minutes from me, I’ll definitely be back 😃.
I give Aroma 3 cupcakes 🙂
