Sugar me all day

I must admit, the Banting diet does have its tough moments. For instance, I’ll see a pack of Oreos and then I’ll want to stuff my face. I really have no restraint when it comes to chocolates, biscuits or sweets. So when my cheat day rolled around (uhm, the third for the week, haha) I decided to go all out and visit Lé Kreamery in Menlyn Shopping Centre.

I’ve walked passed Lé Kreamery a few times and never really took notice of it. But after seeing an amazing pic of their S’mores on Twitter and reading a great review, I had to try it.

Lé Kreamery is a small store located in the Food Court. It has a small seating section within the store and a few more tables outside the store. There is also only one waitress, which makes placing an order a long ordeal if there’s more than 3 occupied tables.

Lee, Adrian (a friend from years yonder) and I were ready to tuck in. Or more like Lee and I. Adrian is not a fan of sugar so he wasn’t as excited as we were. To start, we ordered 3 milkshakes: the Strawberry Supreme (which was light, sweet and yummy); the Ferrero Gourmet Kreamshake (which tastes just like Ferrero Roche and is very rich); and the Oreo Gourmet Kreamshake (which just like the Ferrero milkshake, taste just like Oreos and is very rich). Although the milkshakes were rich, they were delicious.

Then Lee and I went on a sugar rush and ordered more sugary delights. The first was the Lindor S’more. After seeing the pic on Twitter, I could not wait to dive in. The S’more had a layer of Lindor chocolate on the bottom of the pan, crunchy marshmallows on top and chocolate sauce over the top. However, by the time the S’mores had been served, the chocolate had hardened. So there was no oozing chocolate that I was expecting. Also, some of the marshmallows were burnt which was not appealing at all.

We also ordered the Lindor and Oreo pancakes, which were disappointing as well. The menu offers you a choice of ice-cream or cream but we weren’t given that option. The pancakes just arrived with cream. The pancakes looked delectable but, once again, the chocolate had hardened leaving a odd texture in your mouth – an odd, grainy mixture.

Another friend, Khethi ordered the caramel swirl. I think we pondered that muffin for a while as it looked more like a chocolate muffin, even though we were assured it was a caramel swirl muffin. Hesitantly, Khethi finished the muffin and, although, she enjoyed it she was still skeptical.

I was quite mislead by the article I read on Twitter, raving about Lé Kreamery. The service was lacking and the sugary treats were not enjoyable at all. A complete waste of money I my opinion. The one thing I truly enjoyed was the milkshakes but I doubt I’d be hurrying back to Lé Kreamery any time soon.

I give Lé Kreamery half a cupcake.
